This prize is planned to award a school project which

explores local history and the built environment. The

focus and reach of this prize, as well as the mechanics of organising it are in design, but it is hoped that the prize will encourage children from aged 7-11 to explore the rich tapestry of local history and its effect on the architecture and design of human settlement today.

The prize will allow local West Surrey schools to celebrate and award the best of these projects and talent.

The prize is named to celebrate a unique person and his wife, Peggy. John Clenshaw joined AJ & LR Stedman (as was Stedman and Blower) in 1947 as an articled pupil. He worked continuously for 60 years, retiring in 2005 and supported the directors in a loyal and unswerving way. This prize celebrates the value we attach to lifelong learning and wisdom that comes with so much experience and tradition.
